Orbicular branding agency 1HQ sampled various Saint Nick's suits, featured happening everything from jars of Nutella, to Coca-Cola cans and M&S advent calendars, in order to create a colour swatch of all the different shades of red presently existence victimized. These were then combined to encounte an average. The result? The Christmas ruddy to closing complete Christmas reds is, naturally, #e61722.

"Plenty of thought goes into giving designs their best discolour or colorise combinations – from the psychology and emotional pull they evoke, to owning a space as a product, brand, or season," 1HQ's Matt Thom says in a urge release. "Christmas offers none better occasion to pull on the emotional connection of colour, and the association of violent – from mulled wine-colored, warm fires, robins, Rudolph and of course of instruction the jovial, cold bringer of Christmas cheer himself, Santa."

As for the history of Santa's red suit, it begins before those seasonal Coca-Genus Cola ads. Indeed, the first show of a modern Santa Claus, consummate with bright Bolshevik suit, was in a serial publication of drawings from the belatedly 1880s by illustrator Thomas Thomas Nast (thanks, Wikipedia).
